TechForce has signed an agreement with NBN’s Delivery Partner to assist in the rollout of the NBN HFC Trial on the Optus Network (soon to be NBN) in Redcliffe Queensland. This is a high profile rollout for all stakeholders and it is vital that NBN delivers on their commitment to connect the residence of Redcliffe to the NBN network. TechForce is proud to be part of this NBN work and is looking forward to assisting all stakeholders in achieving their rollout objectives on time and to the highest standard.

The rollout includes bulk aerial lead-in drops to residential premises’, without the need for anyone to be home. There is also the option of completing internal cable runs to the point if the end user is home, with an additional rate payable for this work. Work is assigned in bulk and completed at the technician’s own speed and capability. Excellent ticket of work rates are on offer and job allocation and completion has been streamlined thanks to the iPad app developed for this project.

Homes have been pre-screened to ensure that technicians only receive jobs that can be completed, and residents are notified in advance of the installation. In addition, most materials are supplied to the technician free of charge.

Redcliffe has been selected to take part in a construction trial designed to speed up the rollout of the National Broadband Network. The premises’ included in the trial are among the more than three million premises that sit inside the HFC network currently owned by Optus and Telstra. The HFC network is likely to be incorporated into the NBN as part of the governments mixed technology rollout.

NBN Co’s CTO, Dennis Steiger, said on the rollout:

“These construction trials are an important step in our goal towards ensuring all Australians are able to receive fast broadband as soon as possible.”

“We’re already planning upgrades to the HFC network to enable families and businesses to receive higher speeds. The aim of this construction trial is to deliver valuable insights into how to deploy that upgraded HFC network at scale.”
